The Role: Administrative Assistant – Bougainville

Location: Buka, Bougainville

Start Date: August 2025

Contract Type: Open-ended (Resident contract)

As the Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of the ICRC’s Bougainville Office. Reporting to the Head of Office, your role will span several key functions including finance, logistics, procurement, HR support, and office administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Office in daily administrative tasks including accounting, logistics, and travel arrangements.

  • Organise financial support for the PNG Red Cross in line with ICRC standards.

  • Liaise with local authorities and PNG Red Cross contacts on administrative matters.

  • Maintain ICRC premises, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with standards.

  • Oversee daily cash disbursements and explain financial procedures to colleagues.

  • Arrange personnel movements and accommodation logistics in Bougainville.

  • Manage purchases for local operations and administrative needs.

  • Oversee vehicle dispatching and maintenance schedules.

  • Support recruitment activities in coordination with HR in Port Moresby.

  • Ensure effective people management, performance reviews, and leave planning for supervised staff.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school or professional diploma in business administration, secretarial work, or equivalent.

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in a similar administrative role.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain discretion.

  • Strong communication skills in English and Tok Pisin.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and administrative systems.

  • Familiarity with Bougainville’s culture and geography is a strong advantage.
